Why Vince. There is NOTHING for me to gain by being a good LW strongman. Say I win out nationals at 200lbs. Big deal. I mean I couldn't back up my strength in anything very functional that lasted more than 3 minutes, I sure as shit couldn't stand up against anyone in a confrontational. I will have a poor cardiovascular system. Before you make an argument about cardio think about how Pudz looked and he is supposed to be one of the best conditioned in the sport. After that there is nothing to gain because there is no money, fame or respect for being strong by people outside of the sport of strongman. And even within the sport there is very little respect for lightweights. I can be strong about just as strong as I am now at 185 and look better and feel more confident. After watching (and getting bored) with WSM lately, watching our pinnacle get his ass handed to him by a mediocre fighter and eating and eating and eating for very little reward I have decided to hang it up for a while. Not worth the time or effort for me anymore

Fair enough. Just don't want you to regret not getting something out of the work you have put into getting strong. I've always said no one should do Strongman for fame or money. It's still an awesome sport. The thing about Strongman is that it's a lot more fun to do than to watch. I would say it's a different kind of cardio, doesn't mean you can't be healthy as a strongman. All that being said, I respect you and your decision, just was looking for a good year from you. You gotta do what makes you happiest too. I definitely get that. See you in P town?

This guy is all skinny, but lean now! Looks like the MMA trainng is paying off. you know, if this site sent out emails to let you know when someone replied to a thread you are interested in I would have had something to say about this post. I havent done much of any lifting over the last year. but this week I have been getting back in touch with things. Wed was the highlight with a 4 mile run followed immediately by a 5x5 squat set.

well, weightlifting doesnt seem to be the thing for me. Went into the bodpod again to see how MMA and running has changed me. Down 7% on BF and up 6lbs of muscle. This is after 8 months of no real weight training. WTF?!
My training is so mundane I don't really have anything interesting to share. 70 flights of stairs after a 3 mile run last week was a big highlight. Swimming sucks Fractured my hand hitting focus mitts. ran a 10k in under an hour. swimming sucks

Yeah, we talked about swimming the other night. Just an inefficient work horse in there. I fractured my hand punching focus mitts of all things. The guy holding the mitts hits hard and I hit hard and when he gave me resistance my hand just couldn't stand the pressure. I had wraps on but it was still too much.
Yesterday was only an hour of BJJ. today all i did was a 5 mile run. Been sort of lazy.
Today will be a 2 or 3x day. BJJ for an hour and maybe 2 cardio sessions. Maybe swimming again.
