I bet it was a prety good experience with Hilary huh? That's pretty cool. That stinks about the wrist too... just keep baby'ing it.
Are a lot of people going to the star of the north?

Yeah she's great--good attitude and of course good lifting. Her jerks in particular inspired me. She just had so much power getting under the bar, as if there's nothing else she wants in the world but to have that bar over her head.
It should be a pretty good turnout for SotN. So far it sounds like everyone from my gym will be there except for Breon. I know a few others who will be there. Is it open to people from other states? I'm not sure. It should be a good time either way--you should come check it out if you're able to!

Hahah Charley was giving me shit for putting my workouts on the internet. I don't know if he's ever used the internet--he thinks that I'm giving my competitors and advantage LOL. Riiiiight...usually there's no one in my class and if there is, it's Allie Henry or someone who out-lifts me by 20-30 kg.
I was hoping to work up to a 52 kg snatch opener, but it didn't go that great and I got frustrated. 49 and 51 looked fantastic, but then things fell apart again. I'll try one more time to get there tomorrow. Clean and jerks looked great...worked up to 66 with ease. I could probably tack on a few to my opener, but I think I will stay more conservative.
Snatch: 35x3, 39x3, 42x2, 45x2, 47x1, 49x1, 51x1, 52xf+f, f+f, 50xf+f C&J: 35x3, 45x2, 50x2, 55x1, 58x1, 61x1, 64x1, 66x1,1 Pwr Sn+Hang Sn: up to 38x3,2,2, 30x3,3 Bk Sq: up to 70x3,3,3
Now I'm not sure what's going wrong with my snatches. I think I ironed out some of the 1st pull issues, but now I'm back to spilling them behind me and over-correcting on my 2nd attempt and spilling them in front.

I was sooooo sleepy and crabby today after 3 hrs sleep and a long day of work. It was an act of will to get myself to the gym. Once I got there, though, I felt a lot better. I agree a lot with the discussion about atmosphere in Simon's thread--it can be very important (though I agree with Alex about sometimes wanting the peace of lifting alone).
I started flailing with the snatches a bit, but then Roger 'threatened' me with an opener of 50 kg. NO WAY!!! (I opened with that at the last meet, and I want a lot closer to my training PR of 57 kg) Then I pulled it together, so hopefully if warm-ups go well at the meet I can add a couple of kilos to that.
Snatch: 35x3, 39x3, 42x2, 45x2, 47x1, 49xf,f,1 50x1,1,1,1 Front Squat: up to 60x3x4 for speed
Short and sweet workout. Now I'm looking forward to the meet!

Yep I'm feeling pretty good about the meet. Once I got my head around keeping my openers conservative it helped a lot. I'm a little worried about my weight because all of the sudden it leapt up 500 g (75.3-ish to 75.8-ish...that may not seem like a lot to you, but it is for a girl, especially for one who tends towards overweight). I think it's a prelude to 'Shark Week', which falls at the worst possible time this month . Ah well...I will just do my best to keep foods, fluids, salt, etc... in check and I"ll be in Friday for a weight-check and some light lifting. Today was all about the C&J: Snatch: 35x3,3,3,3 C&J: 35x3, 45x2, 55x1, 60x1, 63x1, 66x1,1,1 Those three singles got better with each one, so I think it's just a matter of getting in the right mind-set--I have plenty of strength.

.5 kilo could be from anything. even just an extra glass or two of water in your body. It's good you're going to watch your diet, but I wouldn't be freaked out about it or anything. good luck this weekend!

Feeling better about the weight today. When I got the gym I weighed in at 75.07, and then after my light workout I was down to 74.77. Hopefully the scrambled eggs I had for dinner don't cause problems.
Today I just did light lifts up to singles at 35 kg snatch and 45 kg C&J and some stretching.
Meanwhile there is an epic storm outside! It won't be getting dark for 3 hrs, but I can't even see my car from the window right now!

You were right, Jared, I need not have worried--weighed in at 73.88. That must be the lowest ever in recent years. I'm sure part of that weight was lost during my conniption fit on the way there when I got lost, but after that I had a great time. My openers were conservative, as promised, but in the end I think that meant I had more fun with the lifting. Perhaps not the mindset of champions, but it makes all the preparation and meet logistics worth it. I did get a modest total PR, though, and I think a clean PR.
Snatch: 51, 53, 55 C&J: 66, 69, 72 (clean only) Total: 122
My previous best meet lifts were 52/68=120. Not sure what happened on that last snatch. I think my head was just in the clouds. I'll have to look at the video. I fought for that last clean, trying to come out of the hole, but the jerk slipped down my chest. It was super hot and humid and the sweat had a lot to do with it, but I probably should have held on to the bar better. Hopefully I can post videos later.
Overall my team did really well and I was proud of them. It was also great seeing some of the battles in men's 69, 77, and 105. It was the first time I remember seeing our very own Alex Moss lift, so yay! I cheered for him. There were some misses here and there, but overall a better showing from teams MN and IA than at Nationals (in my opinion).
Anyhoo...now I am really excited to get back in the gym. I really want those 60/75 lifts, but I feel better taking some of the pressure off myself and enjoying the ride at this meet.

Thanks for the meet write up! Getting the experience and testing yourself competing is what it;s all about. Meets are usually for breaking through as well, so great job on the total and clean PRs!

Oop... a little behind on posting here. Mon 6/28:Neighborhood gym, so weights are in pounds. Fr Sq: up to 155x5,3,3,3 (70 kg) Sn Pulls: up to 125x4,4,4 (57 kg) Cl Pulls: up to 165x4,4,4 (75 kg) Presses: up to 60x5,5 (27 kg) Tricep Row thingies: 45x10, 50x6, 45x6 Planks Got a little shock and awe for the front squats, which on the one hand is cool, but I'd rather not be stared at so much. Now that I convert things to kg I realize what a heavy workout this was! No wonder I'm still sore Tues 6/29:Back to TCB. Snatch: triples up to 47x1+f+1, 3, 1+f+1, 3 C&J: doubles up to 55x2,2,c+f Bk Sq: 40x8, 50x8,8,8,8 Told Roger I need to improve my endurance, so lots of multiples, and heavy ones at that. Could have gone heavier on those squats, but I've rarely if ever done reps that high, so we didn't know how to gauge it. I'm pretty sore right now, but I just have to push through it. The meet lit a fire in me. Let's hope I can keep it stoked until the next meet! No workout today, but I'm going to play softball, which will be something to keep my joints moving around (and also fun .

It seems like I always wind up doing my best lifting a week or so after a meet. Yesterday was a milestone for me: I finally cleaned my bodyweight of 75 kg! I also had a good workout on Friday. The holiday weekend meant I only had short times to work out, so I divided my workout over two days. Friday 7/2Snatch: up to 45x1, 48x1, 50x1, 52x1, 54xf,f, 50x1, 52x1, 53x1, 54xf,1, 55xf, 45x2,2 C&J: just some light work before I had to leave Saturday 7/3Snatch: light warmup stuff C&J: up to 55x1, 60x1, 65x1, 69x1, 71*xC+f, C+f, 72xC+f, Cleans: 75x1 (PR!), 77xf,f Bk Sq: up to 70x3,3,3,3 *I thought that 71 kg was 72, but I had accidentally loaded only one 1kg plate on one side durrr....probably didn't help the jerks. The first attempt at 77 kg was really close. I'm pretty sure I have at least 80 in me at this point. Now I just need to take some time to work on jerks.
