Thanks. It wasn't too taxing, yet productive. You are right- some farmers and stones this friday, along with some medleys.
5-18 bench press- barx8,135x8,225x6,315x3,335x11,x6, not feeling it today Marunde Style DB Presses- 105lb. DBx 120 reps (3x20 each arm) bar hang w/ 45lb. plate- 50s
That's it. Was in and out in under a half hour I believe- the weekend really caught up to me today, all the graduations and traveling. The 105x120 felt pretty solid though.

5-19 warm up-BB Complex snatch pulls-135x2x5,220x3x5 Deadlifts-220x5,308x3,396x2,485x1,519x1, 407x2x5, 308x5,220x5,135x5 Front Squats-135x5,220x3,286x3,330x3x3 Sitting rows- 3x20 DB Rows- 105'sx10 each arm, Lat pulldowns- 3x8 shrugs- 2x20, upright rows- 2x15
Very very hot in the weight room today. was completely soaked just after deadlifting, very fast paced workout. Felt very strong today though, deadlifts were very explosive, didn't push it all the way up though as it was my first time deadlifting beltless in 6 months I believe- and 60 pounds lighter. Solid day overall.

Back is still sore all over. Everything haha. upper, lower, lats, middle, just everything. Tri's are surprisingly very very sore as well. Will do a bit of jogging and stretching today just to help recovery a bit.
I also lied in the video- I have been beaten in a log pressing event- Iowa's Strongest Man- the medley... but- I guess it wasn't purely 1 log, it was a 106lb. KB, 260log, 290 axle, 330 log if I remember right- something close to that. I think I got 6th out of 29. Only 6 finished- but the 330 flew up.
Also, the tire is only 500-550, I believe I said 600, I was thinking of the new tire we have been flipping on another farm, my bad!! I just caught both of these today haha. whoops! It's all G.

What you mean? Are you asking why when the weight goes up the reps go lower, and then once I do my work sets, I drop it back down for more reps?... /\. So the high end means low reps/high weight and bottom end means higher rep/more volume/less weight? Is that what you mean?
I always like to work up to my highest sets using as little as warm up as possible. Meaning I want to be warm- yet not "tired." After my heavy work sets I am generally pretty tired. the sets after this are incorporated for a few reasons. 1. To build conditioning. Again, I don't want to be tired heading into my heaviest sets, so I save the reps at the same weight that I warmed up with for after the heaviest sets. 2. I want to be fresh for my heaviest sets. 3. If I am not feeling great- I will drop the weight down and still get some rep work in. The lower weight/higher reps is much easier on my body- so sometimes it actually helps with recovery by flooding the muscles with blood and getting a good "pump" to initiate the recovery process. 4. If I just end on the heaviest set- my whole body aches for the rest of the day. But, if I do a lighter set for reps, not only do I get conditioning, but I work the muscle much more and it actually feels much better because of all the blood flowing there during the rep sets.

I am very short winded as you can tell. Does that answer anything at all?
Tomorrow I plan to hit:
12" Log- 375lbs Farmers- 350lb/hand for 60' Stones- 345stone for 8 reps 600 Tire- 50 flips
Kidding of course. What I actually want to hit:
Axle? or Log? Lemme know if I should bring my axle, work up to heavy single, SS w/ 1 arm DB press viper presses 1sx10r Farmers- Heavy Tire- 1-2sx 12r (or medley work?) Stones- Heavy

The recovery aspect is interesting. I tend to just quit after the heaviest set. Funny how you know what you want to ask but it isn't always conveyed in the way you word a question. I was mainly interested in the sets you do after the "top" set. You're saying it starts a little active recovery. Aight. I'll have to give that a shot.
Your idea for events looks good to me. Hopefully, it won't be raining.

Also, I use it for speed as well. After all, Force= Mass x Acceleration. So, focusing not only on how MUCH weight is lifted, but on how FAST you lift the weight is equally important. For my squats when I go lighter I generally work on speed and just exploding out of the hole. Same with deadlifts on occasion.

5-22 Events at Vince's Left at 4:10 pm, got back to the house at 11:45pm. Missed 1 turn on Hwy 20. dangit.
Axle Clean/Press, clean each- bar, 110xa lot, 160xsome,210xafew,250x2,280x2,300x2,330x1,190x11 in 60s Farmers-181x75',231x75',281x75',321x60' 1 drop, 321x45' Stones- 220x1,275x1,306x1,330x0(tacky is worthless- not sure what is up but it was useless)
felt pretty solid today. Did my "fast" clean(continental still) with the first rep on 280. Need to work my way up to 300 on that way of cleaning it though. Felt solid again though, farmers felt pretty decent- very very hard farmers, 181 empty- so feels really heavy "in hand." Still some solid work. Stones- did not get a workout really at all- very disappointed- the tacky was extremely horrible- tried every alternative to get it to work... just would not cooperate. Upset I am not on my progression marks for stones. ugggggggh

wanted to thank a few people from yesterday: --Kim for supper again! --Vince's friend for having a way better drill than him. --Mira for hissing at me. I think it was a positive step in our relationship. --Kim and Vince's dresser for looking like it weighed 400lbs, yet weighed about 3. --Mother nature for keeping the rain away. --Elite Tacky for being completely worthless. You are fired. --My axle for being a great companion to ride home with. See you next week bud. --My ipod for not skipping 24/7. Nice work. --Vince for his 33 second lockout on his 230 axle! Way to stick with it. --Vince for shunning off all the cars that wanted to come and take pictures of us, and disturb us by honking ridiculously. --Vince's truck for waking up 3/4ths the town of Independence just by starting his truck. --The stones for temporarily holding all of my arm hair. Thank you. --Vince for putting up with me screaming at him on a 110lb. axle. --Myself for carrying the farmers from the barn to the gravel. Most dreaded lift in the history of events at Vince's. --Kim/Vince's fridge for babysitting my pound of steak. --Vince for letting me use his smashed cat tacky. why do I call it a smashed cat? Because that is exactly how useful it was... as useful as a smashed cat. Thanks vince. --Vince's dad's farm for being able to hold all the reporters, fan groups, and tons of camera flashes that were present while training, the entire farm was full of spectators.. It's training people! --Milo for getting back to his bulking diet and attempting to attack the axle. He was much more explosive with the added bodyweight today. --My stopwatch for running ridiculously slow. Dang stopwatch, it's all your fault. --Vince for bringing a barbie doll to training... I didn't ask... it was weird. Bored at work? yep.

Sweet! let em know you feel buddy. tell them I was not impressed either. haha they are good people.
5-23 pm
axle complex- lots of rows, presses, cleans, squats, shoulders, etc axle c/p- 110lbsx5x3-5, 200xa few sets, working on technique, warming up log c/p-105x7 vipers, 195xafew warming up 200lb. Sandbag, 250lb. keg sandbagx2x70', keg x a few simulated loads Medley- Keg 50' to sim load, sprint back 50' to sandbag 50' to sim load, sprint 100' to sandbag 50' to sim load.....did this same thing 3 times..almost puked!
Didn't get much medley work done yesterday, or loading work, thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. Generally I take 2 days off after events, or if I do something on 2 days after it is upper body.. but just couldn't resist it today... day after events did a double- very rare.. but with 42 days out from today- I need to kick it into high gear!
