Good job today! The DL i saw looked really good. I can see some great progression coming through and developing! keep working hard and just remember...the sky's the limit.
My thoughts on the competition would be go for if you believe you're ready. And numbers shouldnt be the main focus. Focus on personally pushing yourself, and bettering yourself. Also, since it;s the first meet, really focus on the experience that you'll get from it.

Conditioning
Foam rolling and usual warm up stuff, bit extra.
Sledgehammer work high intensity 10x10 30sec. rest between sets
Mostly I was just trying to move and get my back ready for Squats tomorrow. My back is incredibly sore and when I foam rolled, I cried out like a little bird under a truck tire. I may have left some blood on the sledgehammer, sorry.

9/19/2010
Week 3
Squat 3x10 135 3x10 30lbs more than last week
Leg Press 3x10
Leg Ext. 2x10
Leg Curls 2x10
Bicep work 4x10
I increased in weight in all of my exercises except for leg curls. Squats were Tough. I felt really confident in my form and depth and wanted to push it. By rep 8 my stomach is just burning up and at one point I was tempted to lower the weight but I quickly decided against it and I'm glad I did. This was the hardest that I have ever pushed myself.
A little humor here - my past couple of days have sucked hardcore as Lucy can testify too - but when I walked in the gym, Jared said, "Are you ready to lift?" or something like that - it really just switched my head around and I used it to narrow my mind to just - squat. Turned out to be one of my best days.

9/21/2010
Foam roll and did some extra warm ups.
Bench 3x10 20lbs. more than last week but failed on #10 of last set.
Close Grip 3x10
DB Bench 2x10
Dips 2xmax -45 1x6 -45 1x7
Pushups 2xmax um...I did 0x0
Up Right Rows 3x12
Ab work
After my 6 sets of 60 reps on bench and whatever else; I couldn't hold myself up on dips so I did assisted dips. I skipped push ups for the same reasons, my arms were just toasted. All in all, my assistance work really suffered; should I stop trying to make so many gains on bench so I can do more assistance work? I do think some of it was mental; it's hard to get into it when it seems that these lifts require a smaller muscle mass as opposed to the squat or deadlift.

nooo.. that is completely fine. Eventually you will be able to handle the volume at the end of the workout. Just keep doing exacly what you are doing!!

9/23/2010
Foam roll and some extra warm ups.
Deadlift
185 lbs 3x10 30lb more than last week, 2 less reps
Back Ext. 3x10
Pull Ups 2x10
Calf Raise 3x20
Chin Ups 2x10
DB Rows 3x12
There were a lot of different dynamics going on today so focusing was different. Driving to the gym I couldn't help but think of deadlifting 185 for my 3 sets even though last week was 155. I didn't really think about the weight but the plates themselves. I wanted 25's on and not wimpy 10's. As I said to Alex, and last week, this was the hardest thing I've ever done. I'm starting to like the belly burn at rep 6 ;D I don't see myself increasing next week because my form started to break down around rep 9. The last set on rep 4 I started to loose confidence and experienced a new part of lifting - not sure how to explain it right now though but I did make it to 10. All in all my form was good, Alex's comments later were helpful.
All my accessory work increased.

9/24/2010
Foam rolled
Conditioning
Sledgehammer to tire high intensity 10x10-15
I'm assuming from now on that it will be a given how painful foam rolling will be. My lower back felt fine today and then...it didn't.

I haven't logged in a long time - our computer crashed but here is a quick review.
I have two weeks left of this cycle and then I'll do one week of 12 reps and then one week of 10.
I took two weeks of from the program and just did lots of whatever I wanted: dips, pull downs, calves, technique work and conditioning with the Prowler. I was getting incredibly frustrated so the break was beneficial.

Has my lifting paid off?
Today I carried a crazy heavy steel desk up four flights of stairs without stopping. All of our past times in moving it, it has required two people. It was almost the most exciting feeling of accomplishment. haha! How silly that sounds...
