You ever try to control a car without power steering at 200mph?

Two words: Tom Watson. He was about a foot away from winning a major at 59 years old. If you want to say golf takes athleticism, you need to also give props to NASCAR for very similar reasons. The ability to maneuver a stock car in and out of close traffic, within inches of a wall at the speeds they go (relative to the track size), is, in my opinion more athletically impressive than golf. And now they do it basically without being able to turn their head (HANS device).

BTW, I'm not saying Tiger isn't a good athlete. I think he's more of a great "sportsman". The world's greatest athlete could be a golf player in theory, but if he doesn't necessarily need that athleticism to be good at golf, I don't think he can be called the world's greatest athlete. Maye one of the most mentally tough though.

whoa whoa whoa. nascar MORE athletic than golf? Hahahahahaha that is hilarious. holy cow. yes, some can get by golfing with very little athleticism such as tom watson, but, my point is that tiger isn't just a golfer, he is a great athlete on top of that. However, I would not necessarily say tom watson has "very little athleticism." I think that was freaky what he did at that major--- obv. not the most athletic guy, but, tiger on the other hand is, without a doubt.
nascar more athletic than golf? hehe

PS- did you miss my post wher eI said I was kidding about him being the worlds greatest athlete? I just wanted to debate. and---- tiger USES his athleticism to win... .lets see 14 majors, 70 tournaments. others with inferior athleticism can be good at golf (ie: tom watson), but to be like tiger- you have to be a tremendous athlete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! big difference between a joe schmoe that almost gets lucky at a major(fluke), and, a guy who has won 14 with 5 runner ups at the age of 33... winning an unbelievable % of tournaments he plays in.

You ever try to control a car without power steering at 200mph? haha you use your arms. that's so athletic it amazes me and is so much more impressive than golf. it takes tremendous guts and I suppose there is some athleticism in it, but, not to the level of golf.... not tiger golfing and does driving a moped at 40mph count?

I would also say Bo Jackson. The only one of two modern era athletes ever to compete at a extremely high level in two pro sports at the same time. Something even Jordan couldn't do. Trivia question...who was the other succesful two sports athlete?

That is a great point about Bo Jackson. He was amazing.
Deion Sanders

Deion Sanders....winner winner, chicken dinner.
Even though Sanders was the other two sports guy Bo Jackson would eat his lunch. Sanders was all speed, tackled like a 12 year old girl. He would basically just grab the guy and hold on until help arrived. I don't think he could handle the new big wide receivers of today. Jackson had speed and awesome power, sucks about his genetic hip degeneration.

Jackson didn't even want to play baseball. The Tampa Bay Buccs drafted Bo and told him that baseball was not going to be an option for him. Bo told them to stuff it and declined their offer. Jackson apparently doesn't like being told he can't do something so he held out for a team willing to let him play both. The KC Royals picked him up and the next year in the draft Bo was picked up by the Raiders. His book Bo knows Bo is pretty good. At least it was when I was 12
