Griffin-Bonnar. Chuck. Both huge pioneering factors. With all the countries it's reached now too. Wow. Mexico coming April 2010. Germany this past June. Of course, Pride in Japan, which averaged more fans a show the Super Bowl. UFC returning to Brazil and Japan after nearly a decade. And I almost forgot Australia hosting a UFC 2010 as well.

Nate always stayed in such great position- so hard to score on. Edgar was just a go-er. Those little guys are so fun to watch, their motors never stop

To date the biggest influence in MMA is the Gracie family. They changed the game forever. Other fighters have brought some mainstream popularity to the sport but no one has changed the entire science of fighting like the Gracies did

King, I can see where you would think this but they were more influence on martial artists growing up where as alot of people who casually watch fights couldn't even tell you who Royce Gracie is but everybody and their dog knows Chuck Liddell and the Griffin/Bonnar fight. I'm sure you heard Dana saying viewers dramatically increased during the fight and kept rising. Hard to argue with TUF and Chuck.

Right. We are making points to two different sides of the same coin. You are stating the launch of mainstream MMA being TUF 1 and Chuck and I am giving the Gracies credit for being the biggest influence on MMA. TUF1 and Liddell brought in the money and Gracie brought in the science.

I think you're both right. You could say the Gracie's "evolved" the fight game while Liddell and TUF 1 gave it a kick in the butt. I have 1 word for Royce Gracie... Hughes

Haha Hughes. I have Hughes book and he writes how much trash Royce was talking and being an arrogant prick saying Gracie Jiu-jitsu could beat anybody then once Hughes beat him Royce said "that was gracie jiu-jitsu that beat me" and Matt said "No, that was American wrestling." I dug it.

hahaha that's awesome. I loved that fight. Just completely man-handled him. I mean I give respect where it's due but I did tihnk Gracie was overextending himself- and it proved to be true
