I have taken ZMA off and on since high school(Optimum Nutrition's ZMA). I am back on it again and just love it. I find it works best for me if I go on cycles with it, say 8 weeks on, 4 weeks off, etc. It makes me sleep like a baby, and sleep very deep. It also seems to help me fall to sleep much faster, and my recovery seems to improve on it as well.
No, I am not some spokesperson for ZMA haha. Just saying- if you haven't tried it, it may be worth it to give it a shot. It's very inexpensive and worth it just for the sleep, let alone the recovery benefits.

Ive tried alot of stuff for sleep and taken some at nighttime that should NEVER be taken before you sleep. There are 3 things I believe in for sleep/recovery. ZMA, melatonin and for getting to sleep fast and just getting knocked out you can take the active ingredient in Nyquil, diphenydramine. They sell diphenhydramine at walmart fairly cheap. ZMA and melatonin is cheap too. Sleep is the only time you can recover so in my opinion a good sleeping aid or 3 is the best money you can spend on supplements.

Mathison you got me hooked on the melatonin as well. Again, it works best for me if I cycle on/off it. High stress weeks I am on it, but fri/sat/sun nights I am off it, as well as lower stress weeks. If I workout close to bed time I make sure to take it as well. I may have to try the diphenydramine as well. you are right... sleep is the #1 overlooked component of training. Yes, it is a part of training IMO!

I'm telling ya logan- it'll help you. I'd suggest some melatonin and some ZMA and you will be out like a baby. Mathison also helped me out on a few things too.. NO tv within an hour of bed(no computer, no screens like that), and read for 15-30m before bed(and take the ZMA & melatonin right before you start reading). You will pry fall asleep with the book in your hand haha

I was off ZMA for about a month... the last few weeks I had been waking up 4-5 times a night just wide awake. I didn't really think about it. Finally I figured I'd give ZMA a shot again (it worked before, I had just been sleeping pretty decent without it). The last few nights I've slept like a baby... didn't wake up once.
Just something to try guys if you wake up constantly during the night.

I can have that combo and sleep and it might be good. But I have never missed a meal or had a bad nights sleep while high

Hmmm maybe I'll give this stuff a try, and also the melatonin cycling. When I tried it years ago I had no idea how to take it and it didn't do much for me after the first night. Right now I rely on good ol' Ambien, but it's expensive now that I don't have insurance. Cutting weight is also a lot easier if I just sleep for 9-12 hrs a night

I would definitely try to combine melatonin and zma... I absolutely love the combination.
