tonights lift- www.midwestvikingbarbell.comI'll get the write up done one of these days, crazy at work right now. And my Grandfather had a triple bypass today after a heart attack Sunday night. I haven't slept well or ate well this week, I felt it affect me tonight. But that is an excuse as to why I missed a weight tonight, and that doesn't cut it, I will do better and eliminate the problems.

A lot of squatting going on over here, wow!
On the pause squats, I'd like to get your advices. The only training video I've seen is off Poliquin's website and the girl doing them has a bounce out of the bottom (eg pause 1,2, bounce-squat). Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the pause?
I have been using them kind of as speed sets as a warmup to my work sets, with maybe 40-50%, sets of 2, pause at the bottom for a quick 2-count and try to explode up (no bounce). Thoughts? Thanks!

today's training- www.midwestvikingbarbell.comLucille- I like the pause squats a ton. I also agree that there should be no bounce, this is how we preform them- www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIPKKrll_NA&feature=relatedI would discourage you from doing them as you warm up for your normal working sets though. I think they are very fatiguing and even at those low weights when you're warming up for your work sets, that is what you should do, warm up, not work hard on the way up. I have gotten good results doing them after the main work sets, I have also gotten much better results as I have gone heavier vs when I used a lower %. But, having said that, I've never tried doing them before squats, and the main reason I do them is for the start of my deadlift, so I have slightly different form then my standard squats so it may depend on why you're doing them. Jared- It will come this week sometime after Tuesday. I've got to travel for a huge presentation and hardly have time to write this.
