Four guys from this board qualified for nationals in their respective sports yesterday! Jared and Simon in weightlifting and Colin and Phil in Strongman.
I know Jared and Simon overcame pretty challenging totals in their respective classes. The jump in the qualifying totals from the 69 class to 77 was 215 to 244 and from the 85 class to 94 was 258 to 283.
Colin Wetlaufer got 2nd on countbacks in the heavies and Phil Martin won the lightweights (105 kg and under) in his first contest - the XTS Strongman contest in Delevan, WI.
Tremendous job to everyone. We have a good thing going on this board.

Thanks Vince! It was a pretty big day for the members on the board. 4 got qualified...sweet!
Very good job by the other 3... Colin, Phil, and Simon. Big stuff going on around here!!

Thanks Vince! Especially good considering I don't think any of us tried to peak for the contests. At least Jared, Phil and myself anyway. When everyone decides to peak for a show it should be good stuff!

Thanks Vince, it was a great day for the people you mentioned! I did infact try to peak for my contest however. It's less than five weeks until nationals so I have hard work ahead of me. I'm shooting for a 250 total, something like 110 and 140. It really helps me to have a solid goal like the 250 I'm shooting for, otherwise things can get too general like "I want to improve my total" which is a good idea but it's vague. My total went up 11kgs in the last three weeks so I think another 6kg improvement is definetely achievable within 4-5 weeks. I'm gonna have this week be an unloading week where I will train around 80% and then it's balls to the walls bulgarian style for 3 weeks before the week of nationals when weights will get smaller the closer to the contest.

It's hard to doubt you can get another 6 kgs after the improvement you have shown recently. Keep working hard.
