Yeah, when you get that heavy shit is gonna slow down. What are your qualifiers for nationals and the American open?

True. Thanks again for the compliments- it's always good to hear when just starting out- encouragement always helps.
No idea...I honestly don't care to know. I just want to take it 1 training session at a time yanno. That's all I can control is the next one- so I just want to make that one as good as I can and then start preparing for the next one. If I look at the huge qualifying totals and look at what the top guys are doing I know I'd just get discouraged because I am not even close.

Nice work on the power snatches. Lots of volume, then a nice single at the end.

I honestly didn't realize until I looked at it on paper that I did 20+ sets at around or above 90%. Somehow I feel pretty fresh today though. Thanks Vince.

What do you guys think of me NOT having a coach? Think it's a bad idea? (I am currently completely training myself with zero technique advice from anyone, etc).

Unless you are filming it and submitting for web coaching I think it is a horrible idea. I also think not following a program is a bad idea

I know this sounds dumb but it technically means I am coaching myself. I Hadn't really thought of it like that until you mentioned the filming thing. I am just lifting and sending the feedback to myself and adjusting accordingly. It basically is my only option right now.
I've never been on a program. In strongman it took me from a 160kg squat to about a 275 squat, from a 130 front squat to a 235 front squat, from a 170kg deadlift to a 265x5 deadlift, a 230lb log to a 360lb log, a 220 axle to a 400lb. axle, a 205 stone to a 330x7 stone, a 500 yoke to a 850 yoke, 225 farmers to a 325 farmers, push press from 120kg to 170kg, BTN press from 140kg to 210kg.
That was all in a pretty short period of time. I never stopped progressing in that time span and was never on a program. I think if I stop progressing then I can look at getting on a program but what was worked for me for about 3 years.
My belief is that until it proves me wrong... until I stop progressing I am going to go with what has worked for me. Lifting purely based on how I feel. I have zero reason to believe otherwise.

The sport is fine. We are both made with excellent bodies for oly lifting. The weight class I only 78% disagree with. The coaching thing, duh. Everyone needs pointers and tips. Even Jordan needed a coach. The program thing, yes and no. If you are honestly going smart and 80% of the time very very hard then I think not having a program is fine. Guidance wouldn't hurt though.

Who's gonna coach you where you are now? I mean seriously. You are doing the best you can with what you have available to you. I've always trained by feel so I am biased towards that style of training. A lot more interesting when you think about it: like at work, I will have a break and think about what I need to do tonight at the gym. Kinda breaks up the day some. Also, what do I feel like I am able to do that day? I plan but don't use a program. More like an overall philosophy where you have wiggle room based on how you feel. Who can create a better program for me, than me? That is after you have learned some general methodology to training, of course. That being said, I do think there will come a day when you will be on a program, and then you will have to commit fully to it. You know that though. You have so much time that, as long as you are still gaining, you are fine doing what you're doing for now. You are perceptive about learning technique on your own too.
