I figured I'd start posting my stuff here as well. I post everything in my blog, but I'll link the updates here to keep it easy. Any thoughts/input is always appreciated. Yesterdays training: www.midwestvikingbarbell.com/

midwestvikingbarbell.blogspot.com/2010/06/training-61.htmltodays training. Yeah the conans will work fine, it is a great addition to the training arsenal that is for sure. It should give us an advantage with one of those in a contest. It will be interesting what is possible from a higher pick.

I bet the no carbs would take a toll on your training... in the short run anyways. Awesome stones workout!

It changes the way you feel for sure. For me my strength endurance goes to crap, but that is also the fastest thing to come back. In the short run it really varies as to maximal strength. For me personally, most of my lifting is after at least an 11 hour workday. So that is where the low carbs kill me, I just run out of gas.
But I'm trying something new out, essentially 4 weeks of bulking 2 weeks of dieting/ repeat. There are some top powerlifters who have had good success with this. It keeps the body composition in check, while at the same time not losing strength really. If done correctly there should also be a positive rebound after the hard dieting, plus the metabolism doesn't have time to adjust to such low cals during the 2 week period. We shall see how it works. They say it takes 4-5 cycles before you REALLY get in the groove with it and see the body fat stay down much. So we'll see how it goes up till nationals....if I decide to stick with it.

Is there a reason why you decide to have ZERO carbs? Is it completely zero carbs for 2 straight weeks? Just out of curiousity- not saying one way is better, just curious what the method to teh madness is.

Well on a short burst diet the zero carbs is extreme but results come as well. I am pretty carb sensitive and even on a carb cycling diet (the way I think everyone should eat 70% of the time) I struggle with eating very many carbs without putting on bad weight. it isnt technically a zero carb, its a VLCD (very low carb diet). I am eating fiber, actually lots of it. But no "impact" carbs.
I had lots of success on the VLCD, but we shall see how the burst goes. Generally, if you were to look at my BW, what I'd like to see happen is diet-8 lbs fat loss (2 wks) gain(carb cycling)-5 lbs muscle gain (4 wks)
And on going for 4-5 cycles. We'll see if it can be done, but if it could hapen that would mean roughly 20 lbs of muscle gained in 6.5 months, and losing 30 lbs of fat. Which would put me at 275 with MUCH lower BF.
We'll see how it goes, I've never heard of anyone eating this way without hormonal assistance, and obviously the results will be relative to that, but if I can achieve something close to that I'll be happy.

www.midwestvikingbarbell.comLast nights lift. Rack work was crazy, I can hardly sit up straight, but it should help towards getting my lockout up. Also I'm hoping to have an article for the site this weekend/early next week.
