Yes, they absolutely will tear up your upper back like never before! I remember my first few times using them, it just tears you apart.
You can do plate pinches, farmers holds, axle holds, axle max deadlift (DOH) (it won't be too heavy since your grip will give out b4 your legs/back), DB holds pry take way too long to really tax your grip, gripper work, one of my buddies is a big grip guy, i'll try to get himt o post on here.

5/13/10
bench press w/2" axle (axle weighs 20lbs) paused 135/10 185/5 215/3 240/3 265/3 290/3 315/1 axle PR
DB floor press NG paused 95/14 PR 95/8 very long pauses 95/12
hyperextensions 25/16 35/16 45/16
hanging leg raises BW/80
*i love benching with that axle.i can definitely tell how that will strengthen the hands/wrists/forearms,as when you press off the chest,it wants to move this way or that way, because it's non-revolving,so you have to force it to stay straight in your hands by squeezing harder with your hands.those few sets i did pumped the hell out of my forearms.i like the larger diameter bar as well.hopefully benching with the axle will bust my bench out of the rut it's been in for the last few weeks.

I am not a member. Just have always heard that is the place to go for grip strength advice and discussion. Because they don't allow public viewing of their threads, I will have to start an account.

Those two new implements have revived your lifting! That's great to see. Strongman "toys" definitely add a new dimension to training. Keep after it.

are you kidding me? 290x6 double overhand with the axle?
I will have to look at my records to see what I had pulled double overhand on that same axle. I know it is over 300 but not too much.. that is getting very legitimate man.

Keep your head up man, it will come back. I think it is possibly just doing the paused presses too long. I think that probably really wore you out.

Hang in there! I hope you can find something that works for strengthening your triceps. Are you getting enough food and rest?

Heck yeah man. I think that is a good idea. You have to take a step back and look at the big picture sometimes. I think you are choosing the right path for the time being.

i felt really good today,so i decided to do a little work
25mins elliptical 25mins treadmill ----------------------
warmups
RDL's 135/15 135/20 135/25
axle deadlifts sumo/double overhand 225/1 250/1 275/1 300/1 belt on 315/1 axle PR
axle shrugs 225/20 PR 225/15 225/15
ab pulldowns 4x35/65 volume PR
hyperextensions 3x16/45 volume PR
*the cardio is already helping.my core strength was the strongest its ever been today, and i didn't even get winded while doing it.usually the ab pulldowns and hypers get me breathing and sweating like crazy.i'm down to 231 as of today too, that's 5lbs lost since last saturday.i haven't been bloated from all the eating all week either, and it feels great.all the weights i did today were easy.nothing that i had to struggle for.i haven't done any pressing movements for 8 days now,and my elbows finally started coming around today.i'm not going to do any pressing movements until the day i wake up and nothing hurts.my ankles and knees were feeling fine today, and my back felt great as well.stopping all of the heavy powerlifting is already helping.i can't wait for the day i wake up 100% again.
