Chigishev is the greatest Superheavy (at under 134kgs to boot) in the world right now, and I don't expect that to change before London. He was on his way to a comfortable win at the WWCs before he got injured - he looked so strong. He wants that gold bad and will represent Russia in 2012 barring injury.
I have to feel Misha knows this and expect to see him at WSM again next year. If anyone thinks this is a diss to Misha, know I probably consider him the greatest strength athlete of all time (though he might need a world title in something before he deserves that accolade).

I'll bet he lifts in 2012, but not for russia....someone will let him carry their flag whether he moves or not.

Poll question: Who is more likely to lift in London? Koklaev, Mendes, both or neither? This should be really interesting to see unfold.

come on... you're comparing a 7x Russian NATIONAL champion (powerhouse country) to Mendes, who has never competed even at 1 national meet? I mean, I think with where US weightlifting is (possibility of only getting 1 spot- dependent on the 2011 WWC's), Kendrick would pry have that spot no matter what if Mendes does stay for US... honestly.. I hope both do!

Absolutely not comparing the two - there is no comparison in my mind. It's just that both are very interesting figures/stories in the sport right now, and both seem to have major obstacles to clear before they can compete in London.
This is not necessarily a judgement on their abilities, but if I were to bet, I would bet neither.

Woohoo!! Looks like the rumors about him lifting for Belarus may be right!? goheavy.com/forums/olympic/index.cgi/read/532653And looks like Misha and I have something in common: we both tear calluses on cleans. Oh wait. His 240 was in kilos - looks like I AM a wimp. Haha
