So just wondering... I'm trying to gain some weight (obviously healthily) I usually drink skim milk. should I switch to 2% or whole milk to help get more calories? or will it not really help towards the muscle gaining goals I'm wanting

When I was in college I worked up to 2 gallons/day, half skim, half chocolate in each drink. I gained about 5 lbs a month the whole time I did it, but I had to stop once it started being too much fat gains. I say go for it, and if you're gaining too much fat stop or switch it up.
I also had a ton of success using Wal-Mart brand slim fast. They were like 40 cents a piece if ou bought a case and they were 220 cal per. I added 4 in a day and just slammed them between meals. That worked pretty good as well.

I have always had luck just getting calories in. I say don't worry about what you're eating until/unless you think you're getting too fat. When I was at the lowest body fat of my life (5% at 202 pounds) I was eating as much as I could when ever I could. This included a bag of double stuff Oreos and a half gallon of whole milk about twice a week. I was also burning a whole lot of calories every day.
My brother is trying to put on some weight and he has been drinking slim fast. He says it tastes real good.

Absolutely go up to at least 2% milk. I say rotate them. 1 gallon 1%, 1 gallon buy 2%, 1 gallon buy whole milk, 1 gallon buy fat free....

Another plus for drinking 1-2% is that your body needs the fat to absorb the fat soluble vitamins in milk

You gotta try whole chocolate milk...its dreamy...and creamy...but from a nutritional standpoint too much sugey(sugar) to drink very often

Just to throw this out there--goat milk is really good. It takes a little bit to get used to the barnyardy flavor... but I love it.

great question.... no idea haha! I know they do have some farmer markets in CF and waterloo, but I haven't seen any goat milk? Of course I wasn't looking either.
Mooroo's in waterloo (right by sub city on kimball ave), and hansen's dairy and farmers market in CF... There might be a few more around too but unsure on goat milk (can call those places if ya want)

You can get Myenburg goat milk at Wal-Mart. They have it in the dairy section but I like the cans of condensed milk in the baking aisle with the regular condensed milk. It's a stronger flavor, really good in coffee.
If you're hitting the farmers markets I would definitely advocate raw milk too. There are a world of reasons to drink raw milk. Pasteurization destroys or modifies a whole host of bacteria, vitamins, sugars etc. in milk. And raw tastes much better too.

well for whoever's in the cf area I know hansen's dairy has great milk. not goat milk as they raise cows. You can visit the farm near Hudson and pick up the freshest milk you can possibly get anywhere for like $3 a gallon. I believe it's pasteurized as to not get anybody sick, but don't think it's homogenized
