Hey, nothing wrong with a day off here and there Jared, a day off is a day the wolf is not fed. (Serial Sidebar The title of this log refers to the fact that training keeps me out of the psych ward, or rehab, or something equally remedial for persons bent upon unrequited self destruction. End Serial Sidebar) :-) Days off really drive me nuts. I have to work all day tomorrow and Sunday so no DL until Monday. I think our Gold's membership has expired so I can't even go in there after work, as traumatic an experience THAT is. It's ok, conditioning and stuff will happen.

Bench--5 This was like Date Night at the gym, it was so late and just the two of us. Paused speed sets 5x65x2 (these were of unstellar quality, my focus was terrible) Work sets 80x5 90x5 105x5 Impromptu deadlift clinic with Nielsen courtesy of Jared and Alex. You guys are pretty cool even if you do that weird gymnastics lifting thing. :-P The resulting discussion kind of kicked me in the pants to take action on something which has been bugging me for a while. Back when I started 5/3/1 I did kind of a hybrid of Boring But Big and Periodization Bible for assistance, which involved three sets of ten at 50% of the main lift after the work sets in addition to the other accessory stuff. I'd run this by Scott Prosek (Plug! we got our prowler from this guy who is a part of the team from Bad Attitude Gym, and makes equipment: www.snpequipment.com/) and he said go for it, I should be able to handle the volume, but somewhere I dropped it because of the overtraining police. However I know it affects me because I don't get enough plain old neurological training of at very least bench press. Squat and DL are OK but bench is a pain in my butt. (It doesn't help that the benches at USA are so darn slippery that chalk doesn't even help.) Close grip chins x5 a whole bunch Kroc rows 3x50x15 Tate press 3x25'sx20 Tire flips, explosive six trips of ten or so Down to 125 lbs from 135 since the spring, 120 is the goal which is where I was last fall when training heavy. NO KIDDING LIFTING CRAP MAKES GIRLS LEAN UP!!! Oh, don't get me started. My girlfriends still don't get it. You see it in front of your face, but you don't get it. "Let the reps make you stronger." --Wendler

I have been working extra hours and think I might have to join a 24/7 gym for the days like this. It is NOT OK to have this much time between training work. My boss says there are "meatheads" at her gym... so I am not sure if this means bros or people who do pick up weight off the ground and put it down again....

hahaha! That is hilarious about the EFS. That is a wicked dream too haha.
Bummer about the training... I do know there are a ton of 24/7 gyms (or even golds is open pretty late I think).

Finally! OK... Deadlifts--5 week 155x5 175x5 200x5 (didn't push reps, I'm not pushing em on DL lately) 3x135x8
Single leg SLDL 3x80x10
Front squat from pins 5x85x5
I am assuming quads are a weak point because a) I hate front squats, hack squats, any quad-dominant stuff and hatred is a sign of weakness right? b) my squat is so low compared to my DL. When I was wide-stance box squatting last year it was higher.
Steak and bleu cheese is SO UBER YUM.

Maybe I missed it, but what are your current maxes right now? Well you don't ever test 1RMs on 5/3/1. The end of this past cycle I squatted 135x5, benched 115x4, and pulled 220x3.

Military--3 week Mobility, shoulder prehab. 55x3 65x3 75x3 3xbar x 10
Here is the crappy news. I have to switch to a flat footed bench setup for this meet in October (assuming I do it). I have always tucked my feet back up under me and pushed off my toes. This should be wicked fun... not.
Bench 3x65x10
Widish grip pull ups fiftyish
Dips 3x16
High pulley face pulls 3x20, increasing weight
My low back was twinging this morning due to my piriformis being tight, I need to roll on a softball for a while.

Squat--3 week Mobility, a crap ton of rolling on the PVC pipe... that thing is a life saver, I also dug out the stick for my calves and achilles since I have to go flat footed on the bench now, added some more ankle mobility to warm ups. 100x3 115x3 130x5 (no spot today and feeling sick, so didn't push it)
Good morning 3x85x10
Split squat 3x50x10/side
Abs
Cut things short today.
