That's great that the log lift is going to be the emphasis this year. I've always enjoyed watching those giants do the overhead lift. Believe it or not, I'm a pretty big fan of the WSM on TV.

Hopefully ESPN will actually show the Log Lift event. They seem to think everyone wants to watch the boring plane/train/automobile pull event and sacrifice the overhead event each year to show at least half the pull heats.
It's not like they've done a test group to confirm this belief. Like you said, Simon, the overhead is the one we all love the most, especially for max. I know we aren't the average viewer, but many of them have to feel the same way. The British broadcast always does a much better job than their American counterpart. They show all the events in the final and get up close and personal with the competitors.
September is gonna be great. WSM and the WWC running at the same time.

www.theworldsstrongestman.com/story_19.phpI really like how this is shaping up. They are bringing back the Husafel Stone Carry-type event (Africa Stone), max log, axle in the heats, giant farmers and Misha and Schepanski finally make their debuts. Can't wait for September.

My picks for the finals are in red!
Really my only upset is probably Ostland not making the finals, but a squat and an OH are going to be problems for him. I am really tempted though to put him ahead of Misha (despite his insane abilities) just because its his first year. But I believe he overcomes that.
