I think of it like this: If I can do 100 everyday, then opening up with that weight or a little more will be nothing. I think if I backed off every other day, I might be able to get more a couple times a week, but perhaps the way I did it this week creates a higher average snatch.

5.28.10 SN- 40X3,50X3,50X2,60X2,70X1,80X1 CJ-50X1+3,70X1+2,90X1,100X1 FS- 80X3,100X2,120X2 I'm going to Red Wing tmrw to get coached up by John Drewes and also to lift with Jared Youman, 56kg national qualifier, from Red Wing. I wanted to do a sort of warm-up workout today kinda like a day before a competition. Also I think todays workout would be great as a morning workout, not heavy, but not bar work either, same progressions as if you were going heavy, but cut it off short for each exercise so you can refine yet save some energy for tmrw. In other words, no big weights, but that can be a relative term Snatch felt good today even though it was small weights. I read somewhere, it was Caleb Ward (105+ lifter with lifts around 160 and 200 and he is a junior) and he was giving advice on the snatch and the pull in general. He was saying how he pushes his knees back in the 1st pull, it's like you are pulling the bar into your body. Anyway, I was attempting to do that today and it felt really good, it's like you're tucking the bar into you and then giving it a pop at the top, sounds simple right? haha Watch Calebs vids on youtube, once you know what to look for it's easy to spot, he's pulling the bar back, into his body. I think it might engage the hamstrings more too giving you that stretch reflex thing. Vid of Caleb warm up snatch (good angle to view the pushing the knees back and pulling the bar inward) www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z_up-LIqqU&feature=related

here is a vid of a session at California Strength. They have a great atmosphere going on there. Looks like they are doing those evil power versions haha Jared just kidding. Actually looks some some big power snatches and cleans, I think Caleb does a 140 power snatch in the vid. Czech it out. John North is a character. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pot_PdBbNU&playnext_from=TL&videos=NTjgiNUyd9o

I think you are very smart doing what you did today. You definitely want to feel good heading into tomorrow's training session with Drewes.
Very, very good stuff on the first pull. That is very interesting, I will have to try that out and really try to work on that. I am seriously extremely glad you're on the forum. Reading stuff like that really makes me appreciate this forum. I am really intrigued by that, as, watching some other vids it seems common as well.

Great insight Simon. Can't wait to focus on that with my snatches this weekend.

That looks like a sweet place to be lifting by the way with Ward, North, and Shankle. You are absolutely right about the atmosphere. Is it solely Pendlay coaching there?
