First day of collegiate nationals today. There were 4 sessions. My friend Brandon Toothaker competed in the 69kg division. He missed his first 2 snatches at 82kg and hit the third. C&J hit 102, 107, then pressed out 110 for a no lift. Total=189, new pr total.
tomorrow 3 others from my group and I lift. a 69kg female, two 77kg guys, and I'm in 94kg. Then one more lifts in the 105 on sunday.

btw. It is pretty upsetting watching a couple 56kg outlift me. snatching 105ish and C&J 130ish. After I saw one of them in the weightroom hitting 170 for triples! near triple his bodyweight for triples

I wish I could be there to see it! I recall that same feeling of shock/awe when I saw the lifting at Jr. Nationals. Have a great meet, everyone!

brendan- it should not be upsetting at all. THose guys have trained for YEARS to hit those #'s. You have trained seriously for what, 3 months total now for oly? Most of the people hitting #'s like that have trained for 3-10 years by the time they hit college. You should not be upset- you should just understand it takes years of dedication to reach that level!!!

My teammate Natalie Johnson lifted 60/74 for a total of 134. We've both been working toward that 60 kg snatch so we could see the blues on there, and she made it today! She failed her 3rd CJ of 77 (rare for her), but overall had a good meet with 5/6. I bet she will qualify for nationals at the Star of the North in June (137 total). Yay Nat!

Jared- When I said it was upsetting, I didn't mean I was literally upset. honestly I was in awe. It was awesome seeing that guy squatting triple his bw for triples
lillian- is Natalie in the 63kg class? from minnesota?

Stephanie- I don't remember her numbers, but she finished 3rd in girls 69kg! alex moss- sntach 97, C&J 137, total 234 simon klimesh- snatch 105?, C&J 228?, total 233 Me(brendan)- snatch 100(pr), C&J bombed out at 118- bleh --I have videos of my clean and jerk and will post them when i get home. first one I had 2 white and a red, then call got turned over I think my elbow was soft. Missed second clean. third got 1 white, 2 red. I think because of soft elbow again. -I immediately went to the warm up area after 3rd miss, put 120 on bar and hit it first attempt! All mental in competition. I have a video of that too

Leaving early tomorrow morning so I won't be watching Church, but I'll let you guys know how he does when I find out.
Overall good weekend. Had a lot of fun, good experience. Not too upset about bombing out in clean and jerk. I know what I need to work on now and I hit a pr in snatch!
A lot of fun seeing the weights getting put up!

Nice job on the snatch Brendan, and thanks for the updates! Sounds like you have a good attitude. Yep, Natalie is a 63 from MN and should be very recognizable in her pink singlet.

Thanks guys. Yeah I saw her. apparently she is friends with a couple of the people I lifted with. Stephanie for sure, I think Alex too so I got to meet her. I believe I heard she is going to UNI next year.
